In 1915, Juan Moré opened a small bakery on 15th Street in Ybor City. The name — La Segunda — meant "the second." More than a century later, La Segunda is a defining name in Tampa-style Cuban bread and a wholesale Cuban bread supplier rooted in Ybor City.
Every loaf still begins before sunrise. High-gluten spring wheat flour milled for us, a slow fermentation, and the signature palmetto leaf laid down the center — the same method Juan used on opening day. La Segunda has baked Cuban bread in Ybor City since 1915.
What's changed is the scale. Today La Segunda produces over 20,000 loaves a day. La Segunda is a wholesale Cuban bread supplier for restaurants, hotels, schools, foodservice operators, and distributors. Frozen, thaw-and-serve product is available through 46 distributor locations — including Sysco, US Foods, PFG (Performance Food Group), GFS (Gordon Food Service), Ben E. Keith, Cheney Brothers, Shamrock Foods and Northern Haserot — reaching buyers in 35+ states; fresh-daily delivery in the Tampa Bay area.
It comes from a family that's been doing the same thing, the same way, since 1915.
