05 Common Questions
Most operators ask the same eight questions when they first call about wholesale Cuban bread. Here are the answers — written by Giuseppe, not a chatbot.
Giuseppe responds to every wholesale inquiry within one business day — usually within a few hours. Submit the form, call 813-810-6920, or email giuseppe@cubanbread.com directly. Pricing depends on product mix, volume, and whether you're ordering fresh-daily (Tampa Bay) or frozen (through one of our 46 distributor locations across the United States), so the quickest path is a five-minute conversation about your operation.
For local Tampa Bay direct delivery on our own trucks, the minimum is 10 loaves per delivery — built for independent restaurants, sandwich shops, and cafes. For frozen distribution, minimums are set by the foodservice distributor (Sysco, US Foods, PFG (Performance Food Group), GFS (Gordon Food Service), Cheney Brothers, Ben E. Keith, etc.) and typically scale by case rather than loaf. We work with single-location operators and multi-unit groups equally.
No — wholesale pricing is quoted personally by Giuseppe based on your product mix, weekly volume, and delivery model. Posted price lists tend to be wrong for at least one operator on day one. A direct quote means you get the right number for your operation, with the freight and pack details accurate from the start.
Fresh delivery is our own trucks running daily routes across the greater Tampa Bay area — bread baked that morning at our Ybor City facility, delivered to your back door, no freezing, no distributor markup. Frozen distribution ships our bread with a 270-day frozen shelf life through 46 distributor locations across the United States — including the six heavy hitters (Sysco, US Foods, PFG (Performance Food Group), GFS (Gordon Food Service), Cheney Brothers, Ben E. Keith) plus five regional partners (American Food Distributor, BakeMark, Shamrock Foods, Nu Vista Foods Group, Northern Haserot). That network reaches 35+ states; we're active in 18 today and expanding wherever the right operator asks. Operators outside Tampa Bay almost always order frozen; thaw-and-serve gives you the same crust and crumb without the logistics.
Fresh-baked Cuban bread is at its peak the day it's baked — that's why our Tampa Bay routes deliver same-day from the morning bake. Held at room temperature in a paper sleeve, it stays good for 1–2 days; the crust softens after that, but it makes outstanding Cuban toast (tostada) on a plancha. For longer hold, our frozen loaves carry a 270-day frozen shelf life and thaw to the same crust and crumb in about 30 minutes at room temperature, or 6–8 minutes in a 350°F oven straight from frozen. Most operators outside Tampa Bay run frozen and pull only what they'll bake that service.
Almost every operator outside Tampa Bay buys our bread frozen through a foodservice distributor. Through our 46 distributor locations across the United States — Sysco, US Foods, PFG (Performance Food Group), GFS (Gordon Food Service), Cheney Brothers, Ben E. Keith, plus American Food Distributor, BakeMark, Shamrock Foods, Nu Vista Foods Group, and Northern Haserot — La Segunda product can reach buyers in 35+ states. Active in 18 today and expanding wherever the right operator asks. If you already have a distributor account, just ask your rep for La Segunda Central Bakery products by item number — Giuseppe can supply the exact items and item codes.
